Mel & Michelle's Blogging Birthday Party!

I have been scheming for awhile about how to celebrate Mel and Michelle's 30th birthday party. I know that all of us live so far away that it makes it hard to get together to celebrate a birthday party...so why not just create one with our blogs! That way we can laugh, chat, and have fun even though distance does not allow us to do it face to face.
So here is the deal, I need all of you to help me create the best birthday party ever. This is for everyone! Even for those that do not know Mel and Michelle. A Birthday Party is a great way to make new friends and make more memories with old friends. And Mel and Michelle better not be shy either...we need your input desperately! I want to know what kind of cake we would bake, what kind of drinks we would drink! I know for sure that there would be LOTS of CHOCOLATE. I do know that Mel and Michelle both love chocolate and many of those that are coming to the party too. We need to figure out the gifts we would bring! Also when it would be and for how long. I am thinking that an all day girl party is sounding quite nice right now with all of these windy, snowy days! I am in desperate need of girl talk. Does that sound good to the rest of you? Also what games would we play? I think one of them would be dominoes! Then we could laugh like Mel did at Loretta's. Also what hot drinks can others bring? I know we WILL need those with the weather this year! So let me know what you all think? Lets put on our creative caps and come up with the best blogging party ever!
I have posted a picture of the items I would bring:

Pepsi

Peanutbutter M&M's

Balloons

Red Vines

Hershey's Milk Chocolate Cake with Rich and Creamy Cream Cheese Frosting

And some extra icing if we wanted to put writing on the cake or something!

Tin Roof Sundae Ice Cream

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Ice Cream

I have yet to think of the best gift ever, but will get back to you on the comments section.

What other desserts could we have beside chocolate cake? Also feel free to add what we would chat about and catch up on too!

Hey, virtual baking, my kind of baking! In that case I'll bring a chocolate buttermallow cake (choc cake, butterscotch filling, marshmallow frosting) and cream puffs drizzled with chocolate.

Sounds Yummy Amy! \
Gifts for the Michelle and Mel:
I would knock down those walls in that dreaded room in Michelle's new house, and make her a lovely nursery! Also I would buy her a book on tape for the drive to her new home!
For Melody I would get her a dominoes game, and some lovely stationary because she is such a wonderful writer and poet!

Of course the party would be at your house, since it was your idea! Hee Hee. All of us gals would get snowed in for our all day girl party. No boys could get in, and no girls could get out! I think I will bring my hot chocolate (there are 12 different kinds, including white chocolate and chocolate supreme!), some fish crackers (because what is better to celebrate getting older than by eating little kid crackers?), and some almond M&Ms (just because they are good!). We would talk about things we remember, like the 4th of July party they had at their house years and years ago when I almost broke my nose on the thier little bucking horse thing, and we had a pillow fight in the yard and people got hurt and some kids jumped off the cliff into the water. Stuff like that. Dominos would be fun, and pictionary. I'm having a hard time with the perfect present (I sent them cards making fun of how old they are!).
Good idea, what fun. I can almost picture the party now....

Hey Jocelyn,
I love your idea of pictionary! What fun! Also all of the food you plan to bring sounds yummy!!! Also I don't know why I have a little / next Sounds Yummy Amy and I didn't mean to write "the Michelle." For some reason I never see those mistakes until after I post it! Oh well I guess you know what I mean.

Just think, you can eat all the cake/ice cream/goodies you want and never gain an ounce! (sad to say, - I dreamed that I made donuts the other night and they were so good I kept eating them and eating them - and when I woke up I had gained a pound from the day before (this is the truth!)As far as presents go, I would volunteer to baby sit all the kiddos while Michelle and Melody and Monique had a day long shopping trip to the Mall of America. Of course air fare and a generous shopping allowance would be included in the deal! (while we are dreaming, might as well dream big.)
Love, Karen F.

Hey Karen,
I like the way you think! How nice that we will not gain any weight during this party. Also I love the idea of the trip to the Mall of America. Very clever...I am sure they would all love it. I forgot to include Monique in this but her birthday is at the end of the month too.

I would take Karen up on the babysitting part--9 kids, whew! She didn't include me, but without their distractions we could write a book about our lives together over the past decade plus a little! It's a story weaved with laughter, tears, laughing to tears, being silly, sneaky, in love and KNOWING everything there was to know about whatever we were faced with! I can't think of anything better than making the best DOUBLE! :) I'd bring cheesecake, and rainbow sherbet punch, then my exercise tapes to work it all off...but then we'd be distracted laughing because our bodies and our compositions and coordination have TOTALLY relocated since our last bout with the aerobics world! We could go on...but I won't take up any more space now! I'm pretty experienced with the 30's thing though...it isn't all that bad either! :)LW

Wow! I thought I would check everyone's blog tonight after the kiddos went to bed - staying up as late as I can to enjoy being in my twenties as long as I can! :) Anyway, what a nice surprise to find several gathered at a surprise birthday party and with others expected to come anytime!! What a thoughtful thing to host, Kate - thank you!! All the food sounds delightful - keep the chocolate coming! - we'll need all day like Jocelyn suggested just so we can eat some of everything! While I am shopping in the Mall of America and my kids are enjoying Wade, Callie, and Amy at Karen's, Kate will be weilding a sledgehammer in my new house to make that room perfect - now THAT is what I call a birthday!! :) For Melody I would surprise her with train tickets to come see me in our new place. That would be a gift to both of us! I remember one time in Laramie when I was on bedrest and Kate brought me pink tulips and chocolate ice cream - two favorites! I think we would have to have both of those at this party!I loved each comment and can't wait to check again tomorrow! It makes me miss everyone - and makes me glad for such good friends! Love, Michelle

Wow! What a party! :) I would bring Schwans's Rocky Road Ice Cream for Mel and Raspberry Chocolate Truffles for Michelle....and lots of both so we all can partake. There's so many great ideas to celebrate, I think it will have to be longer than a day!!!! The sister trip to Mall of America while kiddos are having a blast together at Karen's sounds awesome! Now we WILL be dreaming of that!

The magic question....is now that both my sisters are 30.....how can I push BOTH of them around in wheelchairs at Mall of America at the same time?! heeheehee.....only kidding! :o)

Much love and Happy Birthday Twins!

Well, Mo beat me to the punch, I was going to say I'll provide Schwans Rocky Road ice cream.....now I just have to bring a BIG spoon!!:) This virtual chocolate fest is a great idea, I won't end up with a belly ache, but can enjoy each and every thing!! I totally agree with Jocelyn - we'll spend time talking about good memories, especially the ones that make us laugh! Kate, thanks for hosting this - what a perfect idea!! I can imagine us at your new house, with a fire in the fireplace, drinking tea and Jocelyn's hot chocolate (NO COFFEE ALLOWED!!!!:), laughing, playing games, and enjoying all the kiddos! Pictionary is a great idea...if Michelle and I can be a team!! Ask our husbands about that one....
I'll enjoy the stationary and dominoes for sure!! And, the trip to the mall of America....WOW!! Thanks, Karen! I can see us now - trying out the rides (or are you to OLD to enjoy that, MO?? hee hee), trying out the gourmet ice cream and chocolates, and waiting for Michelle to send up flares when she finds a good deal!!:) The kids will want us to stay a long time if it means they are being spoiled by Karen and enjoying cousin fun!!
For Michelle's birthday, I think I'll rent a bus and take all friends and family down for a house warming party. On the way, we'll stop at numerous antique stores, home improvement places, furniture stores, etc. and each will be given money to buy whatever they see that makes them think MICHELLE! So, we'll show up and fill her house with love, laughter, and lots of things for her new house!
What fun to turn 30 today - and how priceless it is to have so many wonderful friends and family that send rays of sunshine into my life at just the right times....
Thanks to all!
Love,
Mel

p.s.- Kate, with this "party" you have solved a problem for Michelle and I....we always want to celebrate our bday together but the miles in between don't allow it. So....how fun to celebrate together this way!!
Thanks!!
Love,
Mel

Hey Mel and Michelle,
I'm so glad that you are enjoying your party! I know that distance can be hard, but this helps us all feel a little closer!

I thought of an answer for Mo's question about pushing two wheelchairs around the Mall of America. You remember those twin strollers - I bet you could fix up a twin wheelchair. I think it would have to be the type that has one in front of the other though - the aisles might not be wide enough for two wheelchairs side by side. I hope they don't fight over who gets to be in the front, cause they'd get to the bargains first!

Mo stole my idea of Schwann's Rocky Road and Rasberry filled Truffles! We both know our twin trivia! I guess that after the day doing what everyone's planning----legalized gluttony and unlimited purchasing--I better provide a lodge with a roaring fire, more hot chocolate, popcorn and some goosedown comforters on big warm beds so everyone can recuperate! Meanwhile, Karen's still got the kids.....:o) Love Dad

Actually, if Mel and I are in a twin wheelchair(I get the front!!)) , how can Mo possibly push us - she's OLDER!!!!! I guess she isn't for another 19 days... I guess our trip better be pretty soon! I am packing today and only have two days left...I keep looking out the window hoping to see Mel's bus with all of you in it to help!:) Thanks to each for a great b-day party!!! Love, Michelle

What a fun party that was! We should make this a tradition. What do you think Mel and Michelle? And we don't have to worry about walking off the virtual calories either.

Well Well...I LOVE this! I can FINALLY be there...for this party!I would bake a chocolate cinnamon cake in a jelly roll pan and make fudge frosting. I would also bring a pasta salad and a broccoli/bacon/raison salad...we would need this to balance all the sweets!I would also get out the old "twister" game and dust the "bongo board"...for those of you that are younguns...you'll have to google that to find out what it is! Hah!Love Grandma.
P.S. since this is a virtual party, and we can do anything we want...I would bring up 2 hours of warm sunshine, so we could sit on the porch and soak up some sun!
